This was my most difficult month of racing, EVER!

Racing well is all about being prepared. What I mean by that is that doing well racing is usually just a reflection of how hard one trains.
I think I got Mono about 3 weeks before leaving for CO to compete. There couldn't have been a worse time of the year to get it because it meant I wasn't going to be able to train before my races. In fact I didn't even have the energy to finish more than five holes of golf.

I was one second behind first place in the Teva Mountain Games Extreme Race. Considering my lack of conditioning, and extremely low energy, I know I should be happy with this result. But losing is still losing. Congratulations to Mike Dawson for winning the Mountain Games.

My next event was the Lyon's Extreme Race. All competitors got two runs and they both counted. My first run was great, but not perfect. I was hoping to shave about 2 seconds off my second run. But about half way through the course I made a huge mistake that cost me about 10 seconds. I was really bummed and very upset with my body for not recovering from mono quicker. Pat Keller had two good runs so I was sure he won the race. But later the organizers informed me that my first run was so much faster that I still won.

I want to give a special thanks to all the race organizers for putting together such great races. I know how much work it is to organize an event, and how often all you hear complaints, not compliments. So thanks.

I'm looking forward to being healthy again.
