When I decided that I wanted to attempt to surf the biggest wave ever surfed in a kayak I had no idea I would spend so much time waiting.

The first year I spent a lot of time training and working with Randy Phillips to design a surf kayak for this project.  By the end of the first year my kayak was designed and performing very well.  I also felt that I had learned enough about kayak surfing that I was ready.

The second year was supposed to be the year that I surfed some really big waves.  One Nov. 1st, I got towed into some 25 foot waves.  My boat felt great.  I was ready.  Now all we needed was a really big swell and minimal wind.  5 months later I was still waiting for the next big swell.

Now I'm going into year three and am really hoping that this winter delivers more consistent big swell than last year so I can complete this project.
