After a big wreck a couple weeks ago running Abiqua Falls I cant help but look around me at the rising rivers think about the springtime paddling which is already underway. I am sidelined until early June at the soonest so I might miss out on a lot of spring paddling, but at least I have lots of memories to reflect upon during my down time.
This is a montana classic! Kooteni Falls, and directly below is Super Wave one of the best fast big waves around. A true playground for kayakers.

Another great springtime in Montana waterfall! This one doesn't get run much because of access issues. Ian and I hiked up the middle of the creek for about half a mile to get into the falls, well worth the effort!

Lower Lewis Falls in the Colombia River Gorge, Washington. The Gorge is stacked with classics which makes it a great springtime paddling destination. Looking forward to getting back there soon!

I cant help but do some Cali dream'n as well. This year the Sierras are stacked with snow which hopefully will result in one of the best Cali seasons ever. This shot represents everything about California boating, sunshine, clear water, and good friends. I cant wait to get down there!!
Of course the best river is always the one in your back yard! I hope everyone has an amazing spring paddling and having fun. Be safe and ease into the paddling season. I know it is hard after thinking about paddling all winter but trust me, its better to get your boat back under you and make sure you dust out the cobwebs before charging right back into it. Enjoy the season and I hope to see everyone on the water this summer!
