For most of us the paddling season is starting to wind down until spring time when the rivers will flow again. Cross training is essential to keep strong for your first 'off the couch' paddling session of the spring. The best way to cross train is to get out and play! What ever it is, where ever you are, keep exploring the outdoors. A set of nordic skis, running shoes, snowboard, or a surf board are great gifts to ask for Christmas to make sure you will be as strong as ever when the paddling season starts back up. I will be spending the winter in heavy training for an expedition I will be undertaking this coming spring, the circumnavigation of Ellesmere Island, 1400 miles of arctic ice and ocean. As I amp up my training routine I will put up another post to let you know some of our techniques. My plans include, snowkiting, surfing, swimming, back country snowboarding and walking dragging old tires. Winter is a great time to get in the best shape of your life to rage the springtime harder than ever!
