Mexico’s Unknown Waters II
(First Decent Salto Atoyac)
Veracruz is one of the best and more popular states for kayaking in Mexico, It’s known by some of its famous rivers, like: the Alceseca, Xico, Jalacingo, etc…
This time we went a little bit more south, close to Orizaba, to go look for this waterfall Joel Kowalski had seen in photos (possible runable).
Ones we got there we didn’t just run into a sick drop, we also had beautiful views all around and some crazy scouting to do. With not enough light to run the drop we decided to look for a hotel and wait for the morning.
After some sweet bread and some road we finally got to Atoyac falls, now it was just a matter of time, setting the cameras and lowering the boats into the canyon.
Rafa Ortiz and myself ran it. It was a pretty turbulent and unstable lip, but my line ended up going good, celebrate hands up and look back to see your accomplish. Rafa had some trouble at the lip and ended up falling on his head. With no injuries and lots of fun, it was a successful day
