A lot of people wonder how a lot of us pull of these amazing trips, expeditions, and adventures. It is not easy, but it is certainly not exclusive to Team D or anyone else for that matter. I few weeks ago I was approached by a kid who has a dream to travel to all of the 50 states, kayak, and make a film centered around getting kids off the couch and finding their own adventures. He asked me to help him with his project and to help him raise money to help get his project off the ground. What did I say to him? AWESOME!!!!! I love to see people especially younger folks taking action to make their dreams happen, so I offered to help him. This blog post is a small outline about what it takes to make a dream come true.

The first thing I let him know is that he needed to write a proposal for the Expedition, with some help this is what he came up with:

This is great, now people can see what he is trying to do, he has a way of presenting it. But this still falls short of what sponsors looks for: Numbers and direct correlations to how the project helps them sell more products. So I had him put together a budget for his project:

This This is great. Now everyone who is interested in A.J's project knows what he needs to pull off his mission and potential sponsors can see everything clearly laid out and know what it will take for A.J to accomplish his projectOk. But there are still some missing elements, what do the sponsors of his Expedition see in reciprocation to their investment? I had AJ create a deliverables page:

So now that sponsors know what they are going get, but it is still unclear what they are going to give. Only under very special circumstances will sponsors be willing to contribute the full budget of the project. The next step is to create sponsorship level document. The higher the investment, the higher the exposure. This way sponsors are enticed to come in at as high a level of involvement as possible but not committed to a high dollar sponsorship where they either have to say no, or spend more money than they would like:

Now A.J has a full working proposal to start connecting to people and accomplish his dream. This is the first step to funding any project and making a dream come true. Through this process A.J was forced to clarify his project, organize his thoughts and make it presentable. His next step is making the connections. Stay tuned to the blog as A.J. continues to move forward with his project and begins securing funding. It is a hard economic climate to get sponsors to fund projects so A.J's next lesson will be in perseverance and standing strong behind his vision.

If anyone would like to help A.J. accomplish his vision or for sponsorship inqieries please contact: explorplaytionproject@gmail.com
