I recently got back from the Teva Mountain Games were I had my worst results this year. Well, actually it was my worst result in over 5 years. I had a 3rd place finish in the non-modified kayak category for the downriver, and was 7th in the extreme race.
On the last drop in the extreme race I got pushed into the rocks on the left side of the river which cost me about 5 seconds. I did 10 practice runs and wasn't able to find a consistent line carrying speed through the last drop. So I knew there was going to be a bit more randomness than I'm used to when racing.
Consistently winning is about being able to eliminate randomness and be consistently fast, and perfect. Mike paddled well and deserved the win. Congratulations to Mike!
