EP's Latest Film 'Flathead Wild' Premieres Tomorrow at Wild & Scenic!

This summer, the International League of Conservation Photographers invited the Epicocity Crew to the Flathead River Valley in southeastern British Columbia for a R.A.V.E.--a rapid assessment visual expedition. For two weeks, we followed an international team of renowned photographers called upon to capture the natural beauty of the headwaters of American River's fifth most endangered river--home to more grizzly bears per acre than anywhere else in North America. The Flathead River's water is used as an international benchmark for water purity, but a proposed open pit coal mining project would transform this pristine stream into an ecological disaster.

The Flathead River crosses the U.S./Canadian border and flows into Glacier National Park, where rafters, kayakers and fishermen enjoy its crystal clear waters.

One valley over, the mountains in the Elk River headwaters are being deconstructed layer by layer. The coal is extracted, trucked away and shipped to Asia.

Our film, Flathead Wild, highlights what's at stake should the proposed mining plans go forward. It premieres tomorrow at the Wild and Scenic Film Festival in Nevada City, California. For those who can't see it on the big screen, we've made it available in its entirety on our Vimeo HD channel.
