Everything is Bigger in BC
A couple weeks ago, I packed up and left the Yukon for Squamish, BC. I'd never boated in BC (except up near the Yukon) before, but what I'd heard, more or less, was, "Your threshold for being scared will going to go way up." Also, "Everything is bigger in BC." Well, after a couple weeks there, there's definitely some truth to it. The rivers aren't necessarily harder, and the local ratings aren't as sandbagged as everyone claims (or my opinions are also sandbagged), but almost every run comes…

Freestyle World Cup #1 Rock Island
World cup started up last weekend with the first event of the series being held at Rock Island. I arrived on Thursday afternoon for one training session before the competition. I had never been to Rock Island at this level and the feature was very difficult to figure out especially in the 3…

Half way through my travels, dubbed the Truth Tour, I picked up my good Kiwi buddy Jordy Searle. Our story has been fun to tell wherever we have visited as a Tennessee…

Pigeon Hole World Cup Training
The other day I got the opportunity to spend a little time at the Pigeon River on the feature that has been built there. An incredibly fun, fluffy, bouncy, and retentive hole. I didn't get to spend a whole bunch of time there but did get a bit of video. Enjoy!

Training on the Nantahala
With just about a week until the first event of the 2012 Canoe Freestyle World Cup coming up lots of competitors are showing up to the Southeast! Everyone is training hard hoping to make the top spot.
Personally I had not really been in a playboat over the past year until about a month ago when I decided to start training... Oddly enough things seem to be coming together recently as I have been getting back used to my playboat and doing those "Front Flip"…

Lovin' the New Dagger Mamba!
I really liked the original Mamba. It was stable, forgiving, easy to maneuver and easy to roll. The perfect boat for beginner whitewater kayakers, and a fun boat for river running class III/IV. Because we put all of our beginners in the original Mamba I was nervous about the new design and whether it would be just as good. Now that I’ve had the chance to paddle and teach in the new Mamba this season I am a convert! The new series featuring the Mamba 7.6, 8.1 and 8.6 is awesome. It’s even…
