Graves Creek

Graves Creek:

One of the best creeks in Montana this only gets run by a few groups every year. This year I teamed up with my long time friend Jonny Meyers to go harvest some Montana goods that neither of us had paddled before this year. …

Promise Land

The last couple of months I have been towing around my sweet new $300 1959 camper trailer from race event to race event hitting the scene and getting back into shape.

I have been recovering from my back break at Abiqua falls about a year ago and a finial recent surgery in which to two…

Jitsu Impressions!

From the first Radical Play Machine to the next, introducing the Dagger Jitsu!

I am truly honored to be able to write my impressions of the soon to be available Dagger Jitsu, our newest freestyle project!  It's been a little while I know but that wait will be well worth it.  This boat has…

Because when you go hard sometimes you get screwed...

Teigdal is one of the best sections I've run in norway. Lots of rapids, drops and sick slides. Not further than 30 min from Voss is my favorite one so far and got a lot of potential... still a super stout first D in there for the ones who want to go big and doesn't care about landing on a few rocks!…

Pushing your limits

Kayaking isn't always about pushing yourself to run harder whitewater or big drops/rapids.  There have been numberous examples of amazing endurance feets in our sport most notably in the past 5 or so years are Tommy hilike and John grace running the middle fork of the kings in a single day.  This feat was repeated 2 seasons ago by ben stookesbery and chris korbulic, I was on a 5 day trip down the run when chris and ben passed us at the end of the bottom 9.  The two seemed as fresh and calm…

Earning turns on the first Raquette release of the summer

If there’s one classic Adam Herzog line, this might be it -- “Don’t be a fucking pussy.”

It’s applicable to almost every situation in which Adam finds himself, and the Raquette put-in is no exception.

“But we can drive shuttle and be back in ten minutes,” Alan said. Alan is built like a malnourished sparrow, and was wearing brand new skate shoes instead of river booties.

“Don’t be a fucking pussy. It’s faster to hike.”…

New Freestyle Boat Testing...

It has been a pleasure to be involved in the testing of the new Dagger freestyle boat.

This boat represents a true collective team effort, fearlessly led by the Dagger in-house designer, Mark (Snowy) Robertson.  Snowy started this project by interviewing the whole Dagger team to see what it is that that they want in their dream freestyle boat.  Somehow, he aggregated all of this information and began design on the boat around several core…

Stoked on the Fire!!! Let it Burn!

If I have seen farther it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.(Isaac Newton)

Over the year's I have grown into running big waterfalls and approaching the mental space needed to huck these giants.  Through the incredible collective conscience of our community of kayakers, the up and comer has more beta and confidence than ever to push the evolution of our sport. Waterfalls have been an amazing adventure and I am blessed to share in the growth!!!

Charge Hard-Charge…

Respect.

North Fork of the Payette earned it.  During my summer road trip I found myself at the NF twice.  The first time I was there was during the North Fork Championship.  I was quick to jump into the new Mamba 8.6 and test her out on some real whitewater.  After a few laps on the bottom 5, I figured I'd sleep on it and return the next day, the day of the elite race on Jacob's Ladder.  After talking to some people that night they said they would be willing to meet at the top and put on for a top…
