Dagger in Central Park

Dagger’s presence was unmistakable this past weekend in Central Park, New York City! From Adventure’s NYC on Saturday to Outdoor Nation on Sunday, red and black flags were flying as we partnered with several different organizations in the outdoor industry to promote paddling for all ages and walks of life.

Dagger partnered with Wilderness Systems and Eastern Mountain Sports on Saturday to create the Adventures NYC Paddlezone. The Paddlezone successfully got over 700 people of all… Continue

Eating right?

Ok, ok, I know that kayakers are hungry people and we usually shop by quantity and price but here are a few things to think about if you can when selecting your next meal. Remember, diet is one of the biggest pieces to training and, if done correctly, can help you find a whole new gear when paddling!

Eat a lot of lean protein. If you're active and paddling a lot, you should be consuming about 1 gram of protein per pound (of your weight) per day. Thus, I try to consume about…

New lines can lead to hair raising exits...

Hello all! I've got a heck of a story for yall!

Yesterday Evan Garcia, the Wells brothers (Todd and Brendan) and myself fired over to the Upper Lewis Falls, an ultra classic in the Mt Adams/Mt St Helens area. An absolutely beautiful waterfall that provides the paddler with many options to choose from as far as which line he/she wants to take - with none of them being easy.

The classic line - which comes into play later in the season when the flows are lower - is…

THE BET at the Lyon's Outdoor Games

This year I decided to make the Lyon's Outdoor Games Extreme Race a bit more interesting. I made a bet with Oskar Blues Brewery that I would win the race by at least two seconds. If I won Oskar's would have to pay me 500 dollars and give me a year of free beer. If I lost I would have to pay whoever beat me 500 dollars.

When I showed up in Lyon's CO the event organizers told me that they hadn't seen the water levels this high in the past 10 years and that the race would be moved… Continue

VIDEO: Big Water Means Big Swims on the Colorado River

While out in Vail last week for the Teva Mountain Games, Team Wavesport's Trip Jennings and I cruised down I70 to Barrel Springs Rapid on the Colorado River for a little afternoon fun. With us was longtime paddling partner Adam Mills Elliott, who demonstrated that while a big water swim doesn't necessarily need to be a long and terrifying ordeal.

So check out this multicam video of our run down through the rapid, edited in real time, to see how the experience, and the rescue, went for… Continue

Southern Rains Bring Disaster for Tennessee.

They old saying "be carefull what you wish for" has never been so evident as last months flooding in the southern US. The first weekend in may, rains took thousands out of their homes and ruined busines for many of the historic bars and shops that started so much country music. Whats being called the "Nashville Flood" took 27 lives, and caused damage that you can't put a price on, not to mention leaving the Opry Land Hotel under water. It really put a new meaning on…

Team D Takes Second and Third at Homestake Race

(Photo: Adam Mills Elliott)

The Homestake Creek Race at the Teva Mountain Games is infamous for dishing out beatdowns to the most seasoned of class V racers. Today was no exception, with several paddlers getting pinned early on and one swimming out of the six-foot folding pourover only feet from the finish line. Despite the carnage, Team D's Andrew Holcombe and Tao Berman cleaned their way to second and third… Continue
