Winter has finally turned to spring here in the Pacific Northwest, and we’re getting out to celebrate! During an after work run of the Little White Salmon last week, I had the chance…

Spring is in the air!

Hey All!
I hope this post finds you well and enjoying some fresh snow melt. Nothing beats cold water and warm air! (well, nothing except warm water and warm air...:)

Just a quick update from things in my life.

1. First Descents just finished hosting it's first program in Moab, UT. It was a week of climbing and challenge for 15 young adult cancer survivors and fighters that proved to be truly…

Carrying your Kayak

mex-antigua-A-057 I never thought much about carrying my kayak because it was

something that my peers in the sport have always expected of me. My

understanding from the start was that I needed to be able to carry my

kayak by myself if I wanted to participate in the sport. When I first

started teaching women I held that same expectation for my students. I

remember feeling amazed at the fact that some women really struggled

with carrying their own kayaks. I wasn’t very aware… Continue

2010 Jerry's Baddle

Another successful Jerry's Baddle past us! For those of you that don't know Jerry's Baddle is an event, in memory of Jerry Beckwith, combining a full run of the Green River Narrows and a 26 mile road bike ride (with a lot of elevation gain). The best part about the event is that it benefits ALS and the Green River access fund, two very worthy causes. To find out more about the race/cause and to join for next year visit… Continue

Came into the rockies low via 160 through Durango, passing many a location that reminded me of adventures in the past. A few that jump out at me were the…

Dinkey Creek: The Spring Mission

Last week we ran Dinkey Creek. During the summer, this might not have been such an epic adventure. But in the spring, when the roads are locked in by snow and the rivers are on the rise, running Dinkey…

Team River Runner begins 2010 paddling sessions on the Potomac

Team River Runner is a non profit organization the provides recreational therapy to Injured Veterans through paddle sports. I have had the pleasure of watching the organization evolve from a small group of DC boaters teaching rolling in a Hospital physical therapy pool to a nation wide organization with over 20 chapters and a record of introducing over a thousand Veterans to the health, healing, and fun that kayaking offers. While TRR's growth is exciting, what has been…
