NEW MAMBA CREEKER

I picked up the new Mamba Creeker at the OR Show and spent no time in putting it to the text. "The Box", Clarks Fork of the Yellowstone River, is one of the most intense, demanding runs in the Pacific Northwest. Three days of of incredible and burly Class V whitewater in the depths of one of the deepest boxed out canyons in the…See More

Springtime paddling

After a big wreck a couple weeks ago running Abiqua Falls I cant help but look around me at the rising rivers think about the springtime paddling which is already underway. I am sidelined until early June at the soonest so I might miss out on a lot of spring paddling, but at least I have lots of memories to reflect upon during my down time. …See More

Breaking in the paddling season

The last week as been a hectic one I have to say. I set off from Montana in hopes of catching high water on the west coast for the third annual Northwest Huck Fest. Upon arriving in Hood River we found exactly what we were looking for: lots of water!  The Huck Fest is notoriously a trip to Oregon every spring…See More

CNN holiday interview

Happy 2011 everyone! I am looking forward to the best paddling year yet and hope everyone else is too. There is never a better time than now to get out and enjoy the amazing rivers all around us. Over the holidays I flew to NYC to this interview for Anderson Cooper 360. Hopefully everyone was out enjoying the holidays with friends and family and wasn't around a television to check it out, so here it is! …See More

Off season

For most of us the paddling season is starting to wind down until spring time when the rivers will flow again. Cross training is essential to keep strong for your first 'off the couch' paddling session of the spring. The best way to cross train is to get out and play! What ever it is, where ever you are, keep exploring the outdoors. A set of nordic skis, running shoes, snowboard, or a surf board are great gifts to ask for Christmas to make sure you will be as strong as ever when the paddling…See More

Making a dream come true

A lot of people wonder how a lot of us pull of these amazing trips, expeditions, and adventures. It is not easy, but it is certainly not exclusive to Team D or anyone else for that matter. I few weeks ago I was approached by a kid who has a dream to travel to all of the 50 states, kayak, and make a film centered around getting kids off the couch and finding their own adventures. He asked me to help him with his project and to help him raise money to help get his project off the ground. What did…See More

Adam Brightwell commented on Tyler Bradt's blog post 'Axiom'
Tyler, I have the Axiom 9.0. I primarily use it to surf waves at the beach, though I do get the occasional whitewater run in. I absolutely agree with you on the surfing capabilities of this boat. In the ocean on a rough day I feel unbelievably…

Axiom

On our Dream Result Europe tour I saw the Axiom for my first time. My initial response was, wow, that looks like a great boat for my father. My dad just had his 70th birthday and is still shredding it in a kayak but his Juice had become to edgy and his old creek boat too hard to roll. I decided to get an Axiom for the both of us for his 70th birthday present just before we went on the Grand Canyon. He was STOKED, but I had no idea how stoked I was about to be on it too... The hull speed,…See More

ESPN Feature

This is the ESPN segment that E:60 put together about me. Spent a lot of time working with these guys and I am happy about how this turned out. The show was based around risk so they concentrated on the most dramatic parts of my life but still a cool segment. Check it out:

Big Water Mamba

Fresh back from a mission to paddle the biggest rapids on the planet, Rush and I have just spent the last five weeks between Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo on an epic of crazy big water paddling. We both brought over the big Mamba despite not having ever paddled it in big water. For us, it was a wild card. In theory, we believed it would work but we also had little idea what we were about to experience. We began by lapping the biggest rapids on the White Nile in preparation of… Continue

Whitewater Grand Prix!

The Whitewater Grand Prix was far and away one of the most impressive whitewater competitions ever to happen. It has raised the bar for whitewater competitions and is a true testament to Whitewater Kayaking's continued progression. With the six stages of the event being of varied disciplines and held on some of the burliest and biggest water of Ontario and Quebec, this competition would decide undoubtedly the top paddlers of the world. Freestyle Showdown, Head to Head, Best Trick Contest,…
