Questions about Creek vs. Play Mamba

Hey gang- my first (used) Mamba 8.0 was a play model- loved it but found the seat (hangers, plastic pins on wedger) to be kinda rickety, tho it was very comfortable. I bought a new creek Mamba 8.0…Continue

Anyone use *front* float bags in Mamba or Nomad?

I'll a tallish guy but there is still lots of acreage there forward of the bulkhead. I could imagine stuffing a couple of the smaller float bags in there. Does anybody do that? Or put stuff up there…Continue

Mamba vs. Nomad weight?!

Kinda confused why the Mamba creeker 8.0 with 62 gallons, 8' and 47 lbs., comes in a pound *heavier* than the Nomad 8.5 with 78 gallons and 8'5". Both have the same seat and step-out pillar, with the…Continue

FYI- replacing back-band assembly on the Mamba works A-okay

Just a shout-out to everyone with the yellow flip-switch back-band kit on their Dagger boat. I bought the replacement kit, which has the more common toggle-rail back band adjustment, and it snapped…Continue

George Bergantz replied to Dean Jones's discussion Mamba vs Mamba Creeker - Why are there two?
"I believe the answer is no. The seat assembly in the Creeker is fundamentally different. But the Dagger experts can maybe reply."

George Bergantz replied to Dean Jones's discussion Mamba vs Mamba Creeker - Why are there two?
"Good question! I may be the guy who mentioned that the creek model had a low seat (for me). There are many boats (river runners) out there to choose from and a lot of it is how well you fit in the boat. I fit much better in a Mamba than a Diesel,…"

"I found the perfect solution after trial and error with a variety of foam configurations. I got a Jackson Sweet Cheeks- the '100' size which is the smallest. That allowed me to get the perfect fit on top of my existing Mamba creek seat…"

Andrew Holcombe replied to George Bergantz's discussion Questions about Creek vs. Play Mamba
"Hey George,   Totally in agreement with Adam.  Foam that seat out for sure.  This is a pretty common thing and raising ones seat a little, especially if you're feeling little swallowed like you indicate above, can really help…"

Adam Ott replied to George Bergantz's discussion Questions about Creek vs. Play Mamba
"George, If you feel like you are too low in the seat adding foam is an excellent option. It can give you the height you desire and since you like the support the wedge gives you can reproduce the effect with foam as well. Harmony offers a 3/4 inch…"

Questions about Creek vs. Play Mamba

Hey gang- my first (used) Mamba 8.0 was a play model- loved it but found the seat (hangers, plastic pins on wedger) to be kinda rickety, tho it was very comfortable. I bought a new creek Mamba 8.0 becasue I wanted the step-out pillar and more robust seat. I don't run the gnar BTW, just your local class III stuff. But what surprised me was how much lower/deeper the creek seat was compared to the play. I felt like I was trying to reach up from the bottom of a well when I set-up for my (sweep)…See More

George Bergantz replied to George Bergantz's discussion Anyone use *front* float bags in Mamba or Nomad?
"Okay- I ran the experiment. I got some small float bags and put them up front in my Mamba 8.0. This weekend I swam, and as the boat and I headed downstream (it was too rocky to hold the boat) I noticed that it floated higher for sure, and one of the…"

Chris Gragtmans replied to George Bergantz's discussion Anyone use *front* float bags in Mamba or Nomad?
"Hi George, Definitely something worth thinking about. As Brad said, front float bags could never hurt, and could mean the difference between your buddies saving your boat after a swim or it running that extra rapid and getting beaten up. As far as…"

Brad Ludden replied to George Bergantz's discussion Anyone use *front* float bags in Mamba or Nomad?
"GOOD QUESTION! I can say that you're safety boater friends won't be complaining if you have front float bags but can also say you don't need them. I run a program called First Descents and we offer kayak programs to beginner kayakers…"

I'll a tallish guy but there is still lots of acreage there forward of the bulkhead. I could imagine stuffing a couple of the smaller float bags in there. Does anybody do that? Or put stuff up there on self-support trips (would be kind of a pain to retreive).  Maybe float bags are moot because you all never swim anymore ;-)See More

George Bergantz replied to Jennie Moffett's discussion Moving Dagger Mamba creek seat
"Hi Andrew- I did indeed completely remove the bolt in the front- carefully so that the bolt and washer did not fall into the center pillar (needed little fingers for that one). I was able to move the seat one position- but I guess my point was that…"

George Bergantz replied to Jennie Moffett's discussion Moving Dagger Mamba creek seat
"I just bought a new 8.0 with the creek seat and it was incredibly hard to adjust. I made the hangers as loose as I dare, and even hung on the seat with boat vertical (as suggested in another post) but in the end had to take a rubber hammer to it. Is…"

"I have a mamba 8.0 and this was not comfortable at all- maybe I didn't set it up right. In my creek model- the strap cut into the foam side shims. Perhaps the first photo is not sufficiently clear- but I am good at following instructions ;-)…"
