World's Biggest Dam Removal Begins This Week (Updated)

The world's largest dam removal project began yesterday on Washington's Elwha River. I’m a professional kayaker, filmmaker and National Geographic Young Explorer based in Portland, Oregon. Along with two partners, I run Epicocity Project, a media company that blends adventure with science and conservation for TV, video, live events, print and web. In the last couple of years, we’ve organized expeditions to Papua New Guinea, China, Congo and Bolivia and are currently working on a film that tells the story of glacial recession in the Americas caused by global climate change. We’re working with top scientists, collaborating with leading conservation advocacy organizations and kayaking the class V whitewater rivers that flow from key glaciers that are rapidly receding.
