This report just came in from Jenny Nichols of iLCP at Wild & Scenic. Great news! ----- "World premiere of flathead wild a success! With contemplative silence mixed with many bursts of laughter the film received booming applause! Wooho!"

I’m a professional kayaker, filmmaker and National Geographic Young Explorer based in Portland, Oregon. Along with two partners, I run Epicocity Project, a media company that blends adventure with science and conservation for TV, video, live events, print and web. In the last couple of years, we’ve organized expeditions to Papua New Guinea, China, Congo and Bolivia and are currently working on a film that tells the story of glacial recession in the Americas caused by global climate change. We’re working with top scientists, collaborating with leading conservation advocacy organizations and kayaking the class V whitewater rivers that flow from key glaciers that are rapidly receding.

Running Whitewater in Brazil Before It's Gone

Yesterday, we hit the river for one more round of whitewater — taking on the rapids of Cachoeira de Teotônio (Teotônio Waterfall).

The falls are on the Rio Madeira — the longest and the second largest tributary of the Amazon. The river gets its name “River of Wood” from the massive number of uprooted trees that float down its rough waters. And i… Continue

1.25 Million CFS Congo River POV Footage

I just found some POV footage that I shot for National Geographic during our descent of the Congo River last summer. This is the biggest and most chaotic whitewater I've ever seen, and the POV footage definitely captures that more than any other angle we shot.

Enjoy!
