I'm new at this stuff and trying to get the right body position and fit in a Mamba 8.0. I'm 5'7" (29" inseam), 155 pounds. In flat water it seems the bow of my boat floats way higher than the stern. Where should I be and what gizmos should I move to get the right trim?

What do you suggest about fit? Right now I'm comfortable, but sloshing around a bit when I roll, especially in a current. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

These are great questions. In regards to the trim question I would move the seat forward or almost all the way forward. If you look in front and back of the seat there should be two yellow wingnuts. Simply unscrew these and move the seat forward to the desired position (I recommend one less than all the way forward to start). If you happen to have the creek seat then write back and we'll deal with that then.

As far as fit if you're sloshing around I would add a thin shim (the thin square pieces of foam that came with your outfitting kit) to the hip pads. Just un-velcro them from the sides of the seat and slide the shim in the sleeve on the backside of the hip pad. You can also add the riser to the front of the seat. This will help hold your knees in the thigh braces. The riser is the plastic wedge-type piece in your outfitting kit. Just unscrew the wingnut from the front on the seat slide the riser in to the desired place and replace the wingnut. Alright hope that helps and enjoy your new kayak!

Hey, I have the exact same question only i am 5'11 approximately the same weight and I have the creek seat. Could you elaborate on how to trim the boat with that seat? Thanks
Hey Paul. If you're still following this let me know. Very sorry I didn't check back in on this one. If you're still following start a new discussion with your question so I see it.
