Dagger

I bought a used mamba (love it btw), and the previous owner pretty much got "creative" with the seat. It was off the side-rail hangers (a single bolt on each side), resting on the floor of the boat with no foam under it. Rides a little sloppy to say the least! When I remounted the seat to the side rail hangers, it came off again (plastic not happy now) as I did not put any additional support under the seat. Before I start the process over, I was wondering about how a fresh factory seat install should look, as far as support from the bottom and proper washers and brackets for the side rail hanger support. Any advice, inpout welcome.

Hey George,

So I couldn't actually find any pictures to show you of what the seat should look like, but I do have some advice for you....The way I see it, you have two options for re-outfitting your boat to eliminate the sloppiness caused by the seat not being properly attached.

1) While the seat does not normally come with much foam under it, you could add foam under the seat to help support it so that it does not pull down on the washer/blot assembly. You should be able to get about a 1/4" under there which should at least help the problem, though it probably won't eliminate it completely. You might want to try to duct tape around where the washer is coming through to also help support it and potentially keep it from pulling through.

2) If the suggestion above does not solve the problem, you will want to try to eliminate the need for the whole washer assembly by adding more foam around your seat. Basically, you will want to foam out not just under your seat, but also the sides of the seat really well so that it locks it into place. Then you can just remove the bolts/washer and weld over the hole. If you are taking this approach, you want to make sure that your have the wingnuts the hold the seat in place (In front of and behind the seat) secure and tightened as they will become even more important to keep the seat from moving around.

Hope this helps!
Thanks Laura, I'll go with your first suggestion. Much appreciated!
