dagger plastic

hey guys, just bought a dagger redline that hada massive hole due to being stored close to a lamp.

just trying to find out what sort of plastic these boats are made out of so i can find a match to do some welding.

i recommend you to use the same plastic of your boat,cut little pieces that dosn't affect the utility of the boat, and welth it with a heat gun .

Linear should work well, don't know the specific name. Might be a good idea to find another broken boat and use that since it sounds like you're working with a pretty big hole

This works well if its a large hole too big to weld.

I gave the "bolt it on" method a shot, but on scrapey VT creeks, those bolt heads get in the way.

You can weld even huge holes by putting a "backing" in place to weld a lattice of thin strips onto. I've used both an unrolled beer can and a patch of tight metal mesh. This gives you some support for getting the initial plastic over the hole. With some careful welding you'll get a lattice of melted plastic strips. With a little more welding, you'll get the whole thing closed up, but it'll be very liable to crack in that spot. So you can weld (instead of bolt) a big flat piece over it all and bituthane the inside.

Any linear plastic should do it -- sounds like you'll need a scrap boat to saw it all from.
